Wood, Charles
(15 June 1866, Armagh, Ireland – 12 July 1926, Cambridge)
   He taught harmony at Royal College of Music (from 1888) and at Cambridge University (1897–1924). Beginning sacred composition in his later years, he wrote four settings of the Communion service, 24 canticles, and more than 30 anthems. His largest church work is St. Mark’s Passion (1921), which uses chant melodies and two metrical psalm tunes. (at)
